KITO TOSETTI

I love creating artwork around themes where I can express my feelings with colour intensity.

As digital artist, I prefer to have some but not total control of the end result. It is a constant dialog with the machine. The interactions with the machine surfaces unexpected forms, patterns, colours and expressions as part of this somewhat non-intentional process.

All pieces above were produced using a digital media workflow that uses mixed techniques. They were all printed on cold press paper, which has a specific texture that is perfect for these works.

I use my own photographs and images from other sources. All images are then manipulated using several applications such as Photoshop, Mix, Circular, Lightroom, etc.

  • FLOWER

I believe that other species of our planet also present a tribal behaviour. Flowers are for me very tribal. The have their specific intensions and rituals. In this piece I used a photo of a hibiscus from my garden and used colours of other flowers to form a special “makeup” that warriors use during rituals.
In this case, the flower is battling the ants.

  • AMAZON WARRIOR

I grew up in Brazil and had the opportunity to visit the Amazon Forest several times. The forest and its tribes always fascinated me. The sounds of the forest, the tribal rituals of many different nations are so colourful and full of life for me. The Amazon Warrior is certainly one of the most spiritual artworks I ever produced. It represents the soul and image of the tribal members of an era that is about to disappear from the planet.

  • BASQUAIT

Basquiat is one of the most iconic pop artists and certainly one of my preferred painters of all times. The impactful work of Basquiat caries a lot of symbolisms. He belonged to a very special tribe of black people from NY during the 60s, 70s and 80s.

  • TRIBAL DANCE

The feminine energy of this piece represents the power of a female warrior of our time.

I love the complexity of this piece. She is emanating powerful colours and symbols, almost like ready to kill or to love.

  • HEALER

The intentional fusion of flowers, colours and herbs with the photo of a woman from the past. In fact, this is a photo of a woman wearing a supermarket plastic bag on her head.

After many digital manipulations, the plastic bag became some sort of “medical” hat, or religious/medical hat.
